Samuel was the son of Samuel Wilkes Waud and Ellen Hodgson. Samuel died 24/02/1887 in Rettendon, Essex, at 85 years of age. He was listed as a resident in the census report in Magdelene College, Cambridge, 1841. He was listed as head of household in the 1861 census in The Rectory, Rettendon, Essex.
