26. John⁹ Elphinstone 3rd Lord Balmerino (John⁸, James⁷, Robert⁶, Alexander⁵, Alexander⁴, Sir John³, James², Sir Henry¹) was born in Edinburgh 18/02/1623. John died 10/06/1704 at 81 years of age.

He married Lady Margaret Campbell in Holyrood House, Edinburgh, 30/10/1649. Margaret was the daughter of John Campbell 1st Earl of Loudoun. Margaret died 1665.

In 1669, he succeeded the his uncle's title of Lord Coupar.

John Elphinstone 3rd Lord Balmerino and Lady Margaret Campbell had the following child:

+ 29 i. John¹⁰ Elphinstone 4th Lord Balmerino was born 26/12/1652.
