1. John¹ Fleming was born in Scotland c1831.

He married Mary Isobel Buchanan. Mary was born in Scotland 1836. Mary was the daughter of Robert Dunlop Buchanan. Mary died 21/10/1907 in Ettrickdale, Isle of Bute, at 71 years of age. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 19 Queens Gate, Kensington, London, 1861.

He was listed as head of household in the 1861 census in 19 Queens Gate, Kensington, London.

John Fleming and Mary Isobel Buchanan had the following children:

2 i. Agnes Isobel² Fleming was born in Bombay, India c1860. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 19 Queens Gate, Kensington, London, 1861.

3 ii. Reverend Herbert James Fleming was born 1/01/1873. Herbert died 17/11/1926 in Richmond Athletic Ground, at 53 years of age. He was ordained as a chaplain in 1897. Herbert was created C.M.G in 1916. Was a scholar of Pembroke College, Oxford. In 1901 he became a chaplain to the forces and served at Aldershot, Ballincollig, Woolwich, Crete and Gibraltar. For his services in the war he was twice mentioned in dispatches. After the Armistice, he served again at Woolwich and at Shorncliffe, and was appointed in 1923 chaplain to the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.
