Reverend Herbert James Fleming was born 1/01/1873. Herbert died 17/11/1926 in Richmond Athletic Ground, at
53 years of age. He was ordained as a chaplain in 1897. Herbert was created C.M.G in 1916. Was a scholar of Pembroke College,
Oxford. In 1901 he became a chaplain to the forces and served at Aldershot, Ballincollig, Woolwich, Crete and Gibraltar. For his services
in the war he was twice mentioned in dispatches. After the Armistice, he served again at Woolwich and at Shorncliffe, and was appointed in
1923 chaplain to the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.
