19 vi. William Gooch 1st Baronet Gooch of Benacre was born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk 12/10/1681. William died 1751 at 69 years of age. He married Rebecca Staunton 1714. Rebecca was the daughter of William Stanton. Rebecca died 1755.

William was created Baronet 4/11/1746. Fought the War of Spanish Succession, Lt-Governor of Virginia 1727. Colonel of an American Regiment 1740; wounded in Siege of Cartagena. Brigadier-General. Had one son and one grandson who both died. The Baronetcy passed to his brother The Right Reverend Thomas Gooch.
