10. Gilbert⁵ Elliot (Gilbert⁴, Sir Gilbert³, Gavin², Gilbert¹) was born in Minto, Roxburghshire September 1722. Gilbert died 11/02/1777 in Marseilles, France, at 54 years of age.

He married Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound in Edinburgh, 14/12/1746. Agnes died 30/12/1778.

Educated at Dalkeith Grammar School and Edinburgh University.

Gilbert Elliot and Agnes Dalrymple-Murray-Kynynmound had the following children:

13 i. Gilbert⁶ Elliot 1st Earl of Minto was born 1751. Gilbert died 1814 at 63 years of age.

+ 14 ii. Hugh Elliot was born 6/04/1752.
