8. Gilbert⁴ Elliot (Sir Gilbert³, Gavin², Gilbert¹) was born January 1693. Gilbert died 16/04/1766 in Minto, Roxburghshire, at 73 years of age. His body was interred 22/04/1766 in Minto Kirkyard, Minto.

He married Helen Stewart 4/08/1718. Helen was born c1696. Helen was the daughter of Sir Robert Stewart and Helen Lockburn.

He was baptized in Edinburgh on 30/01/1693. Gilbert Acceded 1/05/1718.

Gilbert Elliot and Helen Stewart had the following children:

11 iii. Jean Elliot was born in Minto House, Minto, Roxburghshire April 1727. Jean died 29/03/1805 in Mounteviot, Roxburghshire, at 77 years of age. She resided in Brown's Square, Edinburgh 1782. Poet

12 iv. John Elliot was born April 1732. John died 20/09/1808 in Mounteviot, Roxburghshire, at 76 years of age. John served in the military July 1740. John was promoted 30/04/1756 in Lieutenant. John was promoted 21/01/1757 in Commander. John was promoted 5/04/1757 in Captain. John was promoted 24/09/1787 in Rear Admiral. John was promoted 20/09/1790 in Vice Admiral. John was promoted 16/04/1795 in Admiral. Died unmarried.
