5. George2 Hamilton 1st Earl of Orkney (William1 Douglas) was born in Hamilton Palace, Larnarkshire c1666. George died 29/01/1737 in Albermarle Street, London, at 71 years of age. His body was interred 1737 in Cliveden, Taplow, Berkshire.
He married Elizabeth Villiers 25/11/1695. Elizabeth was born c1657. Elizabeth was the daughter of Sir Edward Villiers and Lady Frances Howard. Elizabeth died 1733 at 76 years of age.
He was baptized in Hamilton Palace, Larnarkshire, 6/02/1666. Religion: religion unknown. George was promoted 1690 in Colonel. George was created an Earl on 3/01/1696. Captain in the Royal Scots, 1st Regiment of foot, by the age of 18.
