He married twice. He married Elizabeth Lynn. Elizabeth was born c1700. Elizabeth was the daughter of Francis Lynn. He married Ann Fowler. Ann died 11/12/1722.
He resided in The Strand, London 20/05/1726. of Westminster. Former mayor of Galway, Ireland. Apothecary.
In 1717 he was tried for treason by the Irish parliament, and subsequently by Queen Anne's council, for failure to uphold the English government's repressive policy against the Roman Catholic community. Upon his acquittal, his political career over, he set up business in London, as an apothecary.

Francis Cotes was born in The Strand, London 20/05/1726. Francis died 19/07/1770 in Richmond,
Surrey, at 44 years of age. He married an unknown person 1765.
He was baptized in St. Mary-le-Strand, Middlesex, 29/05/1726. Religion: religion unknown. He resided in 32 Cavendish Square, London 1763. Married to Sarah. In the summer of 1770 Cotes, by now clearly in great pain from 'the stone', ingested a soap-based potion in order to dissolve his kidney or gallstones. The concoction poisoned him.
