7. Samuel⁴ Cotes (Robert³, John², John¹) was born in St. Pancras, London 1734. Samuel died 7 March 1818 in Paradise Row, Chelsea, London, at 83 years of age.

He married twice. He married Mary Creswicke in St. Clement Danes, Westminster, London, 11 June 1768. Mary was born c1730. Mary was the daughter of Joseph Creswicke and Elizabeth Laujol. Mary died 1770 at 40 years of age. From Memories of Moreton: Joseph and Elizabeth Creswick had four children: Henry; Anne, who married Thomas Hewitt and then Captain Jenkin Reading; Mary, who married Samuel Cotes of St. Pancras, London, in 1768, and died in 1770; and Eleanor, who married Thomas Grimstead of Leatherhead, Surrey.

12 Aug 1766, Will of brother Henry: If my said son HENRY MARTIN CRESWICKE shall die before he shall attain the age of twenty one years then In Trust to convey the said Real Estates to my two Sisters ANN CRESWICKE and MARY CRESWICKE and the heirs of their Bodies as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants.

He married Sarah Sheppard 15/04/1780. Sarah died 1814. Amateur artist.

Samuel retired c1789. Abandoned intended career as an apothecary and trained as an artist with his brother, Francis. Also found birthdate as 1723 (Ash/Creswick GEDcom).

Samuel Cotes and Mary Creswicke had the following child:

9 i. Mary Elizabeth Eleanor⁵ Cotes was born in London July 1770. She was christened in St. Pancras Old Church, 31 July 1770.
