He married Annie Mackintosh Balfour 1869. Annie was born 10 Moore Place, Glasgow 6/03/1845. Annie was the daughter of John Mackintosh Balfour-Melville and Annie Rainy. Annie died 1881 at 36 years of age. She was christened in Edinburgh, 12/06/1845. Lieutenant in Bombay Staff Corps. Rose to Major-General.

Lieutenant Charles A. Cuningham and Annie Mackintosh Balfour had the following children:

3 ii. Vera Harriet Cuningham. She married Major George Hessing Geddes.
