40. Alexander¹³ Popham (Sir Francis¹², Sir John¹¹, Alexander¹⁰, John⁹, William⁸, Thomas⁷, John⁶, Hugh⁵, John⁴, Sir Hugh³, Robert² de Popham, Gilbert¹) birth date unknown. Alexander died 1669. His body was interred 1669 in Chilton Foliot.

He married Letitia Carre. Letitia was the daughter of William Carre. Letitia died c1660. Her body was interred 27/04/1660 in (Stoke) Newington, Middlesex.

He made a will 7/10/1669. Alexander's will was probated 20/12/1670. Of Littlecot, Wiltshire. A Colonel in the army.

Alexander Popham and Letitia Carre had the following children:

44 i. Sir Francis¹⁴ Popham. Francis died c1675. He married Helena Rogers. Helena was the daughter of Hugh Rogers.

He made a will 10/08/1674. Francis's will was probated 02/09/1675. Listed as Sir Francis in the à Court Pedigree and as Sir Alexander in the Genealogical Collections of à Court. I would imagine he is Sir Francis, otherwise there would be two brothers named Alexander.

45 ii. Laetitia Popham. Laetitia died c1728. She married Sir Edward Seymour. Edward died c1707. i0 Speaker of the House of Commons.

46 iii. Essex Popham. Essex died c1667. She married John Paulet.

47 iv. George Popham.

48 v. Alexander Popham. Of Littlecot. He succeeded to this estate on the death without male issue of his nephew, Alexander Popham in 1705.

49 vi. Anne Popham was born c1654. Anne died 20/04/1684 at 29 years of age. She married William Ashe in Chelton, Wiltshire, 27/06/1670. William was born c1647. William was the son of Edward Ashe and Elizabeth Woodward. William died 22/10/1713 at 66 years of age. His body was interred 29/10/1713 in Heytesbury, Wiltshire. He made a will 2/10/1713. William's will was probated 3/05/1714. (See William Ashe for the continuation of this line.)
