2. John² Carteret 2nd Earl Granville (George¹) was born 22/04/1690. John died 2/01/1763 in Bath, Somerset, at 72 years of age. His body was interred 11/01/1763 in General Monk's Vault, Westminster Abbey.

He married twice. He married Frances Worsley 17/10/1710. Frances was born 6/03/1694. Frances was the daughter of Robert Worsley 4th Baronet and Frances Thynne. Frances died 20/06/1743 at 49 years of age. Her body was interred 23/12/1743 in General Monk's Vault, Westminster Abbey. Died while playing her harp.

He married Lady Sophia Fermor 14/04/1744. Sophia was born 1721. Sophia died October 1745 at 24 years of age. Daugher of the 1st Earl of Pomfret.

He was educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford. Bailiff of Jersey, Ambassador to Sweden and Secretary of State, among other offices.

John Carteret 2nd Earl Granville and Lady Sophia Fermor had the following child:
