2. George Lyon² Bowes (Thomas George Lyon¹) was born in St Pauls Walden, Hertfordshire 6 February 1801. George died 27 January 1834 in Honfleur, France, at 32 years of age.

He married Charlotte Grimstead in St. James's, Westminster, 21 December 1820. Charlotte was born c 6 July 1800. Charlotte was the daughter of Joseph Valentine Grimstead and Charlotte Sarah Jane Walsh. Charlotte died 19 January 1881 at 80 years of age. Charlotte applied for a marriage license to wed George Lyon Bowes 12 December 1820.

George applied for a marriage license to wed Charlotte Grimstead 12 December 1820.

George Lyon Bowes and Charlotte Grimstead had the following children:

3 i. Thomas George³ Bowes was born in Edinburgh 28/09/1822. Thomas died 13/09/1865 in Edinburgh, at 42 years of age. He was christened in Edinburgh, 29/09/1822.

+ 4 ii. Claude Bowes Lyon was born c 21 July 1824.

5 iii. Charlotte Lyon Bowes was born in Edinburgh 15/03/1826. She was christened in Edinburgh, 6/04/1826.

6 iv. Frances Lyon Bowes was born in Edinburgh 8/02/1832. She was christened in Edinburgh, 20/04/1832.
