Hugh Stanley Cannon

85 iv. Hugh Stanley Cannon was born in Sandford on Thames, nr Oxford 15/10/1888. Hugh died 30 October 1914 in Ypres, Belgium, at 26 years of age. His body was interred 1914 in Ypres Menin. He was listed as a resident in the census report in Roysses School, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, 1901. Hugh joined the Royal Engineers in 1914. Hugh was promoted to Corporal in 1914. Attached to the 6th Cavalry Brigade, 3rd Cavalry Division as despatch rider and left for the front 6 October 1914. Killed whilst on his motor bicycle carrying Despatches at the First Battle of Ypres.
