5. Reverend George³ Austen (William², Mr.¹) was born 1731. George died 1805 at 74 years of age.

He married Cassandra Leigh in St. Swithin's Church, Bath, 26/04/1764. Cassandra was born 1739. Cassandra was the daughter of Reverend Thomas Leigh. Cassandra died 1827 at 88 years of age.

Educated at Tonbridge School and St. Johns College, Oxford (Scholarship). He was ordained Deacon at Oxford in 1754 and priest at Rochester, Kent in May 1765. Rector of Deane and Steventon. Private tutor.

Reverend George Austen and Cassandra Leigh had the following children:

+ 7 i. Edward⁴ Austen.

8 ii. Jane Austen was born in Steventon, Hampshrie 16/12/1775. She was baptized in Steventon Rectory, Steventon Hampshire, 16/12/1775. Religion: religion unknown. She was baptized in St. Nicholas's Church, Steventon, Hampshire, 5/04/1776. Religion: religion unknown.
