19. Lieutenant General Robert⁴ Arbuthnot (John³, George², Alexander¹) was born 1773. Robert died 6/05/1853 in Bonchurch, Isle of Wight, at 79 years of age.

He married Harriott Vesey. Harriott was the daughter of William Vesey. Harriott died 5/12/1861.

Robert served in the military 1/01/1797. Robert was knighted January 1815. Robert was promoted 1830 in Major General. Robert was promoted 1841 in Lieutenant General.

Lieutenant General Robert Arbuthnot and Harriott Vesey had the following child:

23 i. George⁵ Arbuthnot was born 1802. George died 28/07/1865 in 12 Uxbridge Road, Surbiton, Surrey, at 63 years of age. He married twice. He married Augusta Amelia Adolphina Papendick in Kew, Surrey, 22/04/1829. Augusta was the daughter of Christopher Papendick. He married Louisa Ann Jones 28/09/1857. A clerk in the Treasury. Private Secretary to Sir. Robert Peel, Private Secretary to Sir C. Wood and six successive Chancellors of the Exchequer.

Survived by Robert Christopher, Henry Thomas, and George Alexander Papendick, and two daughters, Susan Christine and Augusta Mary. Arbuthnot left an estate of several thousand pounds, together with property in London and co. Mayo.
