21 i. Alexander John⁵ Arbuthnot was born in Farmhill, Co. Mayo, Ireland 11/10/1822. Alexander died 10/06/1907 in 11 Duchess Street, Marylebone, London, at 84 years of age. He married twice. He married Frederica Eliza Fearon 1/02/1844. Frederica died 1898. Acting governor of Madras between 19 February and 15 May 1872.

He married Constance Angelena Milman 6/06/1899. Constance was the daughter of Sir William Milman. Constance died 1936.

22 ii. Sir Charles George Arbuthnot was born 19/05/1824. Charles died 14/04/1899 in 14 Dynevor Gardens, Richmond, Surrey, at 74 years of age. He married Jane Caroline Charlotte Clarke 1868. Jane was the daughter of William Clarke.

Charles was promoted 4/02/1845 in Lieutenant. Charles was promoted 4/04/1851 in Second Captain. Charles was promoted 8/03/1855 in First Captain. Charles was promoted 18/12/1864 in Lieutenant Colonel. Charles was promoted 1/07/1874 in Colonel. Charles was knighted 24/05/1881. Charles was promoted 16/07/1881 in Major General. Charles was promoted 1/04/1886 in Lieutenant General. Charles was promoted 31/07/1890 in General. Charles retired 19/05/1891. Educated at Rugby School. After entering the Royal Military Academy in February 1841 he was commissioned as second lieutenant in the Royal Artillery on 17 June 1843. Served in the Crimean War. Wounded twice.
