206. James Leslie13 Balfour-Melville (Robert Andrew Agnew12, James11, James10 Balfour, John9, Professor James8, James7, James6, James5, Andrew4, James3, David2, Alexander1) was born 1895. James died 1978 at 83 years of age.
He married Catherine Ethel MacVean 1927. Catherine died 1963.
Educated at Brighton Grammar School, he enlisted in the 1st Australian Imperial Forces serving as a driver in the 101st Howitzer Battery but was wounded twice at Ypres and Menin Gate in 1917. He was sent first to Rouen then Reading and finally Weymouth before going to London to join the Pay Corps, but was again hospitalized before returning to Australia in 1918 on the transport "Gaika". He studied accountancy and practiced with his father in the firm of Balfour - Melville & Son.
