4. David² Balfour (Alexander¹) was born c1503. David died 1580 at 77 years of age.

He married twice. He married Katherine Abercrombie. Katherine was the daughter of Thomas Abercrombie. Katherine died June 1558. He married Euphame Abercrombie. Euphame died 22/06/1576 in Edinburgh.

He made a will 6/07/1580. Of Inchrye and later of Powis, Sterlingshire.

David Balfour and Katherine Abercrombie had the following children:

+ 5 i. David³ Balfour.

6 ii. Richard Balfour. Richard was a minister, probably 'pastor and vicar of Kirkchrist'.

+ 7 iii. Harie Balfour.

8 iv. Henry Balfour.

9 v. Captain John Balfour. He married Christine Cant. Of Pitcorthy in Fifeshire: he went to the wars in Flanders, and was captain in the Scots Company.

10 vi. Alexander Balfour.

11 vii. Grizel Balfour. She married James Forrester.

+ 12 viii. James Balfour was born c1543.

David Balfour and Euphame Abercrombie had the following children:

13 ix. Robert Balfour.

14 x. William Balfour. After living abroad, came to Edinburgh and became a jeweller.
