Professor of Modern European History, University of East Anglia until 1974. Awarded CBE. Civil Servant. Author of 'The Kaiser' ,
'Propoganda in War' and other history subjects connected with modern Germany. The Balfour home was Huntsman's Cottage from
January 1939 to October 1946. From The Times, June 29, 1934 The marriage took place yesterday in Winchester
Cathedral of Mr. Michael Leonard Graham Balfour, younger son of the late Sir Graham Balfour and of Lady Balfour, of 4, Blackhall Road,
Oxford, and Miss Grizel Wilson, second daughter of the late Mr. Archie Wilson, of The College, Winchester, and of Mrs. Wilson, of Kelso
House, Winchester. The Dean of Winchester officiated, assisted by the Rev. R. Quirk. The bride, who was given away by her
brother, Mr. A.D. Wilson, wore a gown of ivory crêpe with a train cut in one with the skirt. A second train was of old family Tambour lace,
and her mother's tulle veil was held in place by a wreath of orange-blossom. She carried a bouquet of pale-yellow roses. There were two
little bridesmaids, Stephana and Mary Wilson (sisters of the bride), and six grown-up bridesmaids - Miss Prue Goddard (cousin of the bride),
Miss Wendy Cobbe, Miss Betty Cole, Miss Diana Cole, Miss Diana Quirk, and Miss Katherine Bradford. They all wore dresses of
apricot-coloured chiffon over gold taffeta underdresses. The had headdresses of leaves to tone, and carried sheaves of dark red roses. Mr.
Reginald W. B. Burton was best man. Mrs. Wilson afterwards held a reception at Kelso House and among the guests were........
The honeymoon is being spent in Austria, and the bride travelled in a pale-blue printed crêpe de Chine dress trimmed with dark
blue, with a dark blue coat and hat.
